Lemus

Lemus

Jesús Rodríguez Lemus began in artisanal work of pastoral ancestry with the help of his father Lorenzo Rodríguez Pacheco, a cattle rancher from the Ciudad Rodrigo region. Jesus grew his teeth in the field and enjoyed all the agricultural experiences, including pastoral carvings at knifepoint. Professionally he also lived in the rural world and hence he never abandoned his concern and his hobby. It has been able to evolve and, without losing its roots and principles, adapt to innovative trends in both work methods and techniques AND DESIGN.

The result of this process is in the showcases of this exhibition and in the pieces in the possession of friends and relatives of the artist. He has remained faithful to his working method. Carefully choosing the material to use. Making drawings or preliminary sketches of the ideas that arise. These preliminary designs must be transferred to the chosen blank piece. And from that moment on the most delicate begins because the steps taken do not allow rectification. After the previous incisions and the carving of the chosen shapes, we proceed to sanding that will give the final shine. We are faced with the marriage of two principles that are difficult to harmonize: sharing in the same piece the pastoral and traditional with the avant-garde and contemporary criteria of design. Jesús achieves it, in a display of creativity and imagination, at a high level.
